Good exposure, colour and sharpness in the image. The reds are not over saturated as could easily be done with this brilliant red bird. I like the reflection as well. I just wonder about the timing and if the head is not too close to the water. |

A clever setup with good exposure. The eyes are sharp enough. Maybe just a fine border to define the edges, especially on the black side. |

Well exposed image that is pin sharp. The face and eye is a bit dark and can be lightened. The image needs a slight border to define the edge of the image. |

I like the composition and the timing of the shot. It is sharp and shows a lot of detail. The image is a bit bright and the dead areas above and to the right can also be cropped off. |

This is a good portrait of the roller, and the composition is excellent. The colors are good, and the bird stands out pretty well from his background. There are not really distracting elements at all. The eyes are sharp, and the exposure on the head is good, and you can see all the texture on the beak. If you look carefully at the claws of the animal, you can see the texture in that area as well. A well presented image, overall. |

Lion Cubs |

This photo tells a lovely story of a family of Lions and the way that the little ones crowd around their mother all the time looking for attention, and of course looking for protection. I love the colors and I love the separation of the main subjects in the photograph from the background. It's unfortunate that the little cab in the front is slightly soft because the focus is definitely on the mother's face and the face of the cab that is underneath the mothers face. The yawn of the little cub in the front would have been great if it had been in focus. So the depth of field perhaps is a little bit narrow. Maybe the aperture was too wide, or maybe it was just that the photographer was very close, but as presented it's a good photograph, well done. |

At one star we look at focus as the main criteria, and here the focus on the eye is spot on. Exposure is also well handled. To improve you could show more of the headphone, as it is an interesting part of the image that you removed. |

This is a good sharp image and has immediate impact on the viewer. I like the colors very much. I think that everything blends in well together. I think the composition could have been improved by either allowing us to see a little bit more of the animal's body on the left hand side and perhaps most space on the right hand side for the animal to look into or to move into.
Or, alternatively, it could have been cropped into a head portrait above the eye, with the eye on the 3rd on the left hand side, and I think that would have had great impact, but as presented a good photograph. |

I love this photograph. I love the colors and the lighting, and I think the composition is pretty good. I think that if it was myself, I would have cropped out the leaves on the top left hand side of the photograph, and I would have cropped in from the right to the end of the leaves that are there. I think that would have cleaned up the background and made a very acceptable portrait, but as presented it's a good photograph, well done. |

This is a gorgeous photograph. The time of day and the lighting are absolutely perfect. The separation of the Jackal from the background is magnificent and the colours are very complimentary and very pleasant to look at. I love the focus; the jackal’s eye is very well focused and brings your eyes straight there. It's a great photograph and well presented, so congratulations. |

I love this photograph. It gives you an extremely peaceful feeling when you look at it. The colors are beautiful, the focus on the three animals is excellent and of course the reflections in the water really add to the scene. One can understand why people spend so much time in the Bush to see sights like this. Well done. |

The name of this image certainly is correct, and you can almost hear the roar coming out of the lion’s mouth in the photograph as presented. It produces a great story. It's very sharp. The focus is beautifully handled through the whole photograph, and the colors are complementary, and the background is very nicely subdued. So it's a great photograph, well done. |

A good story telling image that is well exposed and lit, the focus is where it needs to be. I feel a mono conversion of this makes for a stronger image. I also think that if you did not have paving stones in the background it would have added more to the story telling of the image. |

I love this photograph. The author is really achieved a great result. The bird is beautifully in focus and it has the right amount of exposure on the bird. You can see the eye and beak and the whole of the head very well. The skylight in the background is not harsh, and it doesn't distract from the value of the bird and all of the colors melding together beautifully, so this is a great photo. I must congratulate the author. |
